Art Competition Winners

Five local winners from the Sister Cities Art Competition were awarded at a dinner on April 20.


1st Place was awarded to Denae Blosser from Jordan High School with her piece "Ambitions"

 


2nd Place was awarded to Cassandra Brady from Alta High School with her piece "Paris Dream"

 


3rd Place was awarded to Sarah Mikohyski from South Jordan Middle School with her piece "Tranquility"


Mayor's Choice was awarded to Lauren Harding from Alta High School with her piece "Meghan"

 


Honorable Mention was awarded to Erin Hun from Alta High School with her piece "Oliver"

 

The art competition was hosted by Sister Cities International and the Sandy Sister Cities Committee. Artists between the ages of 13 and 18 were invited to submit two-dimensional artwork that included the theme, "Your Path to Peace." Watercolors, oils, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, photography, two-dimensional mixed media and computer generated art were all acceptable media.

Entries were judged by outside judges on theme interpretation, originality and composition. Each winner was awarded a gift card. The first place winner will go on to the international level, where they will compete with winners from sister cities throughout the world and a chance to be one of ten winners in the international category.
