Have you ever wondered how local government really works? Where your tax dollars go, how a building plan goes through the approval process, how snow plowing on city streets is prioritized after a snow storm?
The Sandy Citizen Academy is acourse where residents can learn answers to these and other questions. The goal of the course is to provide an understanding of how local municipal government functions plus provide information and opportunities to participants on how to be more involved in their community.
The course is held each Spring and will begin on the final Wednesday of March each year from 6:30-9:00 PM and will end on the Second Wednesday in May. This 8-week course will feature activities with the City's elected officials, Police, Fire, and Public Works just to name a few. The course will go through the second Wednesday in May. The course is free of charge, but applicants must be 18 years or older to participate. Class size will be limited to 20 participants and an application due no later than March 1st of each year is required.
The Academy will be a fun and interactive course. Dinner will be served each night. All we ask is a commitment to attend the 8-week course. This is a great way a learn how Sandy City government services its citizens.
