
Scott L. Cowdell was elected to the Sandy City Council in November 1989. Scott is a life-time resident of District One and has worked in public service for over 20 years.
He is a graduate of Jordan High School and has been active in the "Jordan Community" for many years. He is employed with the Jordan School District and is currently the Head Custodian of Hillcrest High School.
Civic service and volunteer work have aided Scott in his City Council responsibilities. Previous to his election, he served as President of a local youth athletic program, President of the State Classified Employees Association, and he has held a number of significant Church and religious responsibilities.
He has a unique love for the Historic District in Sandy and has made great efforts to preserve the historical nature of the community while improving its roads, sidewalks, parks and street light systems.
Scott and his wife Betty are the proud parents of six children, four of whom are married. Tracy & Rebekah, Troy, Heath & Holly (Grames), Nate & Kristen (Nichols), Gina, and Steven & Elizabeth (Larsen) . They also are the proud grandparents of twelve grandchildren: Rachel, Parker, Ethan, Miles, Leah, Clarissa, Luke, Sarah, Hattie, Savannah, another Parker, and Amelia.
District One includes the Historic District, and Crescent regions of Sandy, Jordan River area, 2/3 of all neighborhoods west of 7th East.
