You may file a complaint in one of four ways:
When filing a complaint, please provide the following information:
Upon receipt of a complaint, it will be assigned a case number and a primary enforcement officer. Generally the complaint is investigated within 48 hours. If the nature of the violation creates an immediate danger to life, it will be investigated immediately so that appropriate actions can be taken and other agencies can be notified (if necessary).
Sandy City does aggressively investigate and prosecute violations of the City Code. Violators are given a reasonable opportunity to correct the violation. Occasionally due to unforeseen circumstances or an unusual violation, violators may negotiate a time line to correct the problem. However, should the violation not be corrected, the City does issue citations and pursues fines and jail time in the Sandy City Justice Court and/or 3rd District Court of the State of Utah. Violations of the City's Land Development Code are class "C" misdemeanors, and of the City's Municipal Code are class "B" misdemeanors.
