Historic Committee

Sandy City is committed to the preservation of Sandy’s heritage and future development within our National Historic District, the Historic Sandy Neighborhood (Roughly bounded by State Street, 9000 South, 700 East and Pioneer Avenue)

As you may be aware, over the past several years Sandy City has been greatly involved in updating the General Plan as well as developing specific master plans for several areas of the City. In October 2006, Sandy City adopted a specific plan for the Historic Sandy area. This committee is a recommending body for the implementation of the goals and policies of this master plan.

The other duty of this committee is to recommend use of the matching grant money received through the State’s Historic Preservation Office due to Sandy's status as a Certified Local Government (CLG). These funds can be used towards various historic preservation efforts.

This Committee currently has seven members and a representative from the City Council as follows:

  • Jean Corey (Chair)
  • Elizabeth Antola (Vice Chair)
  • Nate Nichols (Secretary)
  • Tim Zuver
  • Peggy Bird
  • Jenny Winkel
  • Jenny Baker
  • Jeff Smith
  • Brent Ivie
  • Scott Cowdell (Council Representative)
