Prevent Driving Backovers

Take a few simple steps before you back up.

• Before driving - check the street, driveway and the area around your vehicle.
• SUVs and trucks should take extra measures to ensure the area is clear.
• Children should be instructed NOT to play in, under or around vehicles.
• Supervise children when a driver is leaving.
• Use backup cameras and sensor devices, if available.
• Adjust the driver's seat so the driver can see clearly out of the rear window.
• Roll down windows and listen for children in the area of the vehicle.
• Adjust side and rear mirrors to reduce blind spots.

Take extra precautions:

• in high profile vehicle such as SUV's, vans and trucks.
• when vehicles are traveling in reverse.
• when a driver is rushed or distracted.

Stop and think before you drive away, a child's life may depend on it!
