Chief Stephen Chapman

Welcome to the Sandy Police Department web site. The Sandy Police Department consists of 111 sworn officers and 36 civilian employees. The department proudly serves a population of approximately 89,000. The city of Sandy is 22.3 square miles and is located on the southeast end of Salt Lake County.

Our police department is built on the core values of "Integrity First, Service before Self, and Excellence in All We Do". We operate a patrol division, investigations division, and administrative division. In addition to the basic duties of each of these divisions our department proactively affects crime and quality of life through the development and implementation of specialty units. These units include our Community Response Team, Family Crime Unit, Volunteers in Policing, Citizens Academy, and Youth Court.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality of police services to citizens and visitors to Sandy City. We are able to accomplish this through progressive and innovative programs that are implemented by highly trained and motivated men and women within the department. We value a community based approach to law enforcement which is enhanced by partnerships we have with the citizens of Sandy who share our goals and are willing to assist us in maintaining a safe city.
