Operation Safe Passage is a proactive program developed to protect children from being abducted while walking to and from school. In addition, it enhances pedestrian safety along safe walking routes and reduces opportunities for bullies to intimidate other children. This program was designed to add an increased element of safety to students by reporting suspicious activity, and by giving the students a person to turn to if something goes wrong.

Law enforcement K-9 teams from across the county, Canada and Mexico competed in the 2012 Las Vegas Metro Police K-9 trials. Our K-9 Nitro and his handler Officer Erika Smith took 1st place in the Explosive Competition. Two other officers attended this event and did very well. Read the attached document for the full story. Following Too Close . . The Sandy Police Department has decided to use new technology in hopes of reducing the number of these types of accidents. The TruCAM is a device which measures vehicle speed and distance between vehicles as they are traveling on the road. It is designed to help officers recognize which drivers are following too close to the vehicles in front of them.
