Healthy Sandy Volunteer Beverly Hyatt-Neville with youth from the Sandy Club for Boys and Girls
Healthy Sandy annually hosts "Fresh Air Day" by taking 60 to 120 disadvantaged children from the Sandy Club for Boys and Girls to Snowbird, a world class ski resort near Sandy. Healthy Sandy coordinates with local restaurants and the hospital who donate a healthy breakfast and lunch for each of the kids. After breakfast, the kids go on hikes, and ride Snowbird's famous tram to the top of 11,000 ft. Hidden Peak. Volunteers from Healthy Sandy and the Sandy Police Department help to chaperone the kids throughout the day. This gives the youth an opportunity to interact with the police officers and other authority figures in a relaxed and comfortable setting. This helps to break down barriers between the kids and the police department, and for many of these youth, this is their first chance to experience the beautiful mountain settings which are so close to Sandy.

Runners in the Sandy Classic
Encouraging everyone to participate in fun exercise activities, Healthy Sandy and Sandy Parks & Recreation put on a USTF-certified 5k fun run each July Fourth. The event attracts nearly 600 participants each year. All runners receive a T-shirt and additional prizes are given away randomly to those who complete the race.
