Objectives

The objectives of the Risk Management Division are:

To assist city departments in the implementation of effective safety and other loss prevention programs to protect the employees and assets of the city from injury, damage, or loss
To minimize loss or injury when incidents do occur
To appropriately finance or insure the cost of claims, injuries, and losses

Safety Awards

Sandy City was one of 16 organizations that was selected from the 27,000 policyholders insured by the Workers Compensation Fund of Utah to receive the Charles A. Caine Safety Award.

Sandy City has received more safety awards from the Fund than any other policyholder (both public and private) during the past decade.

Monthly Safety Discussion

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and the National Safety Council is taking the time to remind drivers that safety on the road requires everyone's full attention. Driving deaths remain the number one cause of fatalities among American workers.

We encourage everyone to educate themselves on the dangers of distracted driving, including talking on a cell phone, whether hands free or not. The following videos have been compiled to demonstrate the importance of not driving while distracted:
