Building a Strong Economic Development Engine

  • Revenue is required to run a city, but we’ve prided ourselves on being both frugal with taxpayer dollars and on keeping our property tax the lowest of the fourteen largest cities in Utah. We’ve accomplished this by expanding our sales tax base and will continue to keep our taxes low creating our city center, The Cairns. Our 1,000-acre city center will be a destination location boasting 20-million square feet of development for an unparalleled live, work, play and shop experience.
  • Sandy City is transforming:
    • The multi-million dollar mall renovation, now known as The Shops at South Town will feature one-of-a-kind tenants, new entertainment and dining options—all with a contemporary, outdoor-inspired shopping experience.
  • The state-of-the art Hale Centre Theatre will seat 1,350 on its two separate stages and attract more than 450,000 patrons a year to our city.
  • A variety of housing options are being added to meet the needs of millennials, empty nesters and everyone in-between. Whether you want a quiet neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle with room to move around or want to be right in the middle of the action, with little yard maintenance and easy access to transportation, shopping and amenities, Sandy will have the right fit for you.
  • Where we used to be a work-commuter city, the addition of many corporate headquarters is increasing jobs dramatically, making it possible for many of our residents to work within their own community.
