What is "Operation Safe Passage"?

Operation Safe Passage is a program to protect children from being abducted while walking to and from school. In addition, it enhances pedestrian safety along safe walking routes and reduces opportunities for bullies to intimidate other children.

If you walk, stand, wait at bus stops, drive your children to school, or an interested citizen, you are halfway there to becoming a part of this program.

As a volunteer you wear the Operation Safe Passage Identification we  provide.

In addition volunteers:

  • serve as eyes and ears for Sandy City Police
  • learn to recognize and report to the police criminal activity
  • become part of our closed internet group where you receive abducted or lost child training, alerts, newsletters, and share information.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

To become a volunteer come to the Sandy City Police Department to complete a background check and receive ID badge.

For additional information contact Dawn Black 801-568-7200 with the Sandy City Police Crime Prevention Unit.
